Building My New Website
Well, welcome. I can’t believe I’m writing my first ever blog… I will probably do well at blogs as I like to waffle. I mean, I have no idea how to write a blog or if there is even a correct way to write a blog... So if you actually read this, thanks so much 😂🤣.
I always update my website annually, and it’s always my winter project. Creating a new website is both exciting and overwhelming. It’s a chance to refine my brand, showcase my work, and provide my clients with a seamless experience.
As a photographer, I wanted my updated website to reflect my core values
- timeless, unobtrusive, natural, and real. This meant not only focusing on beautiful visuals but also making sure that the experience is user-friendly.
My Vision 👀
I knew from the start that my website needed to be more than just a portfolio. It has to tell a story. I want visitors to feel something when they land on my homepage, whether it is the joy of a wedding day, the intimacy of a quiet moment, or the nostalgia of a perfectly captured glance. Every detail, from fonts to colour palettes, has to align with my brand’s identity.
The Design 🖥️
I haven’t used a template, I have built this from a blank canvas and have spent countless hours selecting the right layout for each page, moving things around, deleting things, adding things, experimenting with typography, and curating my portfolio. My goal was to make navigation simple while keeping the design elegant and engaging.
The Photography Packages Revamp 📦
One of the biggest changes that I have made is my wedding photography packages. Previously, they had names that didn’t quite feel aligned with my brand. Now, I’ve carefully chosen new package names that better represent me, and the experience I provide.
The Challenges 😨
As with any creative project, there were moments of frustration. Choosing the right images, tweaking the text, and ensuring the mobile experience was just as good as the desktop version took time. But every part of the process has brought me closer to a website that truly felt like me.
The Launch 🚀
Now, as I prepare to launch, I am so excited for it to be published and to be out there for people to see. This website is more than just a place to showcase my work - it’s a reflection of my passion and dedication to capturing meaningful moments. I hope that when visitors explore my new website, they not only see beautiful images but also feel the emotion behind each one.
